Kühne Foundation

Climate Action

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time, and the expected consequences are serious: rising sea levels, shifting climate zones and more frequent and extreme weather events are increasingly affecting people’s lives, leading to massive migration, and exacerbating food and water shortages. These impacts will be particularly severe for low- and middle-income countries, which have so far contributed least to the causes of climate change. They will have to cope with the effects of climate change while dealing with other environmental and development issues.

With its new focus on “Climate”, the Kühne Foundation is committed to decoupling growth in prosperity from greenhouse gas emissions and accelerating the transition to a dynamic low-carbon economy, especially in low- and middle-income countries. The foundation also wants to help ensure that logistics and international trade contribute to the transition to a sustainable, low-carbon society.
