Building strength on your doorstep

The logistics webinar training for the Rapid Response Team (RRT) in Asia-Pacific develops local and regional logistics specialists to strengthen the surge capacity for emergencies.

Twenty-four participants from different national societies of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) including the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) have participated a series of training webinar on applied procurement in emergencies organised by the IFRC’s Asia Pacific Regional Office as part of a HELP Logistics investment project.

The five-week training program exposes participants to procurement and logistics in emergency preparedness and response operations through practical simulations and exercises. The engagement and support to participants continue after training to embed the learning into practice.

Qualified participants will join a regional pool of talent (i.e. the Rapid Response Team or RRT) to build up the region’s deployment roster capacity. The RRT will assist national societies in filling local capacity gaps when responding to large-scale disasters and decreasing the mobilisation of international experts from other regions.

Investing in strengthening human resource logistics capacities on regional and national levels is one of many capacity-building initiatives of HELP Logistics. It is also the cornerstone of a Supply Chain Preparedness Investment and Impact Measurement project to optimise and improve the PRC emergency response operations.
