Sustainable localisation to increase the readiness of supply chain operations

Logistics in Emergency Training organised by HELP Logistics and partners were provided to logistics and non-logistics staff of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) to strengthen its response capacity.

We all need support. No one person or group can do it all.  Humanitarian workers particularly benefit from collaborating to maximise its impact with as few resources as possible. In a world of international restrictions on supply chains and staff movement caused by Covid-19, it is even more important to focus on building localised capacity amongst aid agencies to deal with national and regional disasters.

HELP Logistics is supporting the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) through its Supply Chain Preparedness Investment and Impact Measurement Project. As a result, 27 staff recently enrolled in training to provide fundamental knowledge through theory and practical discussions around humanitarian logistics management in emergencies. This allowed national and regional humanitarian logisticians to build on their existing competency and increase the pool of responders on the emergency roster.

Below is some feedback from the participants:

“Thank you for the things you do for us. I am confident that with the training series we had, our key players will be even more equipped to do their respective part. A team member who is empowered and engaged will be inspired to do his/her role in the supply chain. Looking forward to more opportunities and trainings on logistics management.”
Mark Erik Lim – PRC Director of Administration

“Thank you so much for inviting me to the wonderful training of Logistics in Emergency Training. This is a very big help for me to know the process for the world of Logistics. I have learned a lot in this training and will share this to others.”
Gener Roldan – Administration Officer
